    Default Welcome to Camradio

Since Terry Churchfied's (K3HKR) post last week here I have been experimenting with this program.

The guys in the USA have put a lot of time & effort into CamRadio over the last few years and now have a very usable program, see here

I am sufficiently impressed to have asked Terry to extend the coverage to Europe and as a result he has included EU West and EU East.

I now have a presence on CamRadio net and intend to be a coordinator for the EU West group but we need another 3/4 people help with this, 2 in Western Europe and another 2 in the East. If you are interested in becoming a coordinator please contact me direct by PM or email.

The CamRadio program interfaces with the HRD V 5.0 IP Server to provide an information overlay for the streamed video picture. Full details are on the CamRadio website.

The proposed European net frequency is 3.770 +/-5 Khz comments about this frequency suggestion and proposed sked times to me please.

    Question Re: Welcome to Camradio

    Terry
Where is the 'radio' in Camradio and why is this forum in with HRD Beta kits? Surely the 'Lounge' or 'Ham Radio Deluxe' is the place for Camradio?

It is in this forum because it only works with HRD V.5.0 and to put it elsewhere would only cause confusion even if I state in text that it will only work with V 5.0

The 'Radio' in CamRadio is the fact that it retrieves and displays the information from your radio via HRD

    CAMRADIO.NET

Hello to our European friends from N2WC –Pat in New York .(East coast coordinator in the U.S.)

CamRadio.NET came about 2 ½ years ago. I was one of the early entries and started to stream video to CamRadio.NET. The video is a lot of fun but it does not take the place of our radios.
We transmit on our radios like anyone who talks on the radio does but we have the option of looking at the station we are talking to on the internet. We can show each other our radio equipment or other items in just about real time. The cams are a lot of fun and we get quite a few laughs watching some of our entertaining members. If you are showing something to a person on your computer desktop you just point the cam to your desktop and they can see you’re desktop.

We have a very nice group of members who are courteous and we have no need for rigid rules on our net. It is fun and we get to enjoy our radio hobby with the video as an added benefit. The members help each other with the technical stuff and the cams make that easier.

The camradio info program allows you to see who is up and streaming and you can call them on the radio. We do not transmit over the internet but use our radios in the normal way.

The status program allows you to show on your stream several bits of info such as s-meter reading, type of radio, power etc .The s-meter reading is constantly updated from HRD so it shows the actual reading.

I look forward to seeing the European faces on the net .It will be great fun .You will be able to see me eat my large bowl of ice cream just about every night and if that does not stop you can watch me grow larger lol .

Feel free to contact me with any questions pat@n2wc.com

Hope to SEE you soon Pat

PS: No cracks about the suffix of my call (water closet) Ha Ha

I think my point has been mis-understood.

I was referring to those older callsigns who consider that anything that does not involve a spark transmitter is herecy.

I am 62 yrs and still get a buzz from pursuing new technology.

You youngsters keep up the good work. Very interesting and exciting.

Hey, what's wrong with spark transmitters? Besides, the ozone is good for one.

Have been around for a while myself too but not quite got to the senile mode yet (well that in my view ) and while Camradio is unlikely to be something I will get into (I have a couple of other radio interests that are becoming consuming) it is real nice to see people developing new uses for radio and converging them with other technologies. Much more interesting than the "Wham, Bam name is Sam, 73 OM" macro fanaticism that seems to have overtaken many of the digital modes .

Will follow its development and use with interest. Thanks for posting about it.
