Default ANYONE interested in a DXpedition?

I am interested in a low key dxpedition almost anyplace with a small group of hams.. I have a reasonable amount of experience ssb, rtty, psk and cw (if necessary). My home QTH is Western NY and there are several decent locations to have a non-dx operation from my area that would be amenable to XYLs as well..

I have operated from J6,C6, VP2, V26Z, ndwas part of the UF7V team in Georgia, and spent several months /UA3A and UA6A..

Anyone interested in working on a low key operation, drop me a line .

I have broached the possibility of an opin CO2 with some membes of the FRC, but only very preliminary talks as of yet...

Every place from hotels to cabins to tents works fine with me.

I'm not interested, I just thought I'd point out that folks can email you by clicking on your User Name in the upper left area of the Post, and then clicking on Send Email. (See - click on - attached Thumbnail). That way you don't have to put your email address in the Post where the #%$$& spam-bots can get hold of it.

My wish would be to activate Socotra Island, Indian Ocean (belongs to Yemen!) I operated from there in 1964/65 as VS9SJF when the Island was part of the British Aden Protectorate, the only operation from there. I've been back to the Island twice, 2002 & 2003, but no ham operation of course. Anyone got any good contacts in the Yemen licensing department? 7O is one of the top wanted entities and Socotra (Soqotra) top IOTA wanted.

    Hi Richard
Like most 'hot spots' of the World it is a few minority that give the place a bad name. All of the Yemenis I met were extremely friendly and one has sent me a Christmas card every year since 2003! And he is a Muslim of course. Sana'a, capital of Yemen is OK but enroute to Socotra you are only there for one day as you fly out to Socotra usually the day after arriving in Sana'a. On Socotra there no no problems with terrorism at all. Crime is virtually non-existant and the people are very friendly, and mostly very poor, certainly away for the main villages. I know that a number of researchers visit the island regularly as it has been called the "Galapagos of the Indian Ocean" due to the endemic species found there.

It's a shame that a few nut cases spoil the place for everyone else as all the Yemenis I met were very friendly.
Socotra is fine and always has been.
